gong xi gong xi

Chinese New Year is here ! Its the year of the LAZY pig ! hahaha !

According to feng shui masters, people who read fortunes and predicts the future. 2007 is the year to wear green and brown and if you are born in the year of the dog like me. its good to start work on the 9th day with white T-shirt or the 4th day, light blue !

Wishing everyone, GONG XI, GONG XI ! Collect lots of Red Packets and let me know if you feel generous to share some with me !

SAI ! ! ! ! !

Today at work, we cracked silly jokes about friends, good friends and best friends. So... according to Janis, Soon and XW at work. One is allowed to have many best friends but only 1 good friend. Ha Ha Ha.

Best%20Friends[1]

This is dedicated to that one girl who is really stands by the silly decisions I make and she understands me. She is half-way around the world, buried in lectures and books. We said we are going to grow old together... so I am just counting the days when she we are living in the same country again.

Funny how she and I went online at the same time during our breaks and managed to catch up a little. And just like what people always say. Best friends say the right thing, no matter how little they say, they manage to make you laugh and perk you up.

Sai : you have been missed, this time more... get an internship in Singapore !
Her advice to me; take care and find little things to do that make ur life beautiful !

Anyone with 100 hours to spare ? Looks like I am going have to go back to planning my days by the hour again.

Hong Kong

To Hong Kong and back...

Along the way... I had a few hours of personal time on the plane and on the airport express ( to and back ), and because I made it a point not to carry my laptop or work with me, I had the luxury of looking out of the plane's window. Watching the clouds go by and enjoying my book. I had a lot of Celine time while away and the trip was a good break. Away from the everyday hussle and bussle of work.

Hong Kong is the right place to go to find myself. It is a nice blend of east meets west with good temperature. I walk among old antiques shops in little alleys behind the tall commercial buildings. On the busy streets, I see old electric trams along crazy minibus driver that weaves in and out of traffic. People with carts filled with cheap sweaters and t-shirts, parked just outside the biggest neon signboards.
Having old fashion chinese food served in a fast food restaurant style.

Hong Kong is truly East Meets West. It embraces traditional values and cultures in a very modern way.

Besides the usual shopping, I find eating Dim Sum, taking the tram, enjoying the fresh air from the 41st floor ( where I stayed ), waking up for 'Cheong Fan' in the morning a good lifestyle I can get used to. I especially love the quiet moments where I just listen to the massive amount of Cantonese around me, not responding to too many conversations, just taking in the daily' life' of Hong Kong and clicking away with my camera.

Its good I end my vacation with good music right now because tomorrow morning, I go back to my desk and 101 things to do...

Je Ne Sais Quoi

A certain Je Ne Sais Quoi

So.. Valentines Days has come and gone again.. For the many girls who stayed at home because you have no date. I understand. And I am not being bitter or 'trying' to make things better because I did spend Valentines Day alone because my 'date' is 10000 miles away. I know that he too is spending it alone. ( Poor Us :P )

I know many wonderful single friends of mine are spending V-day alone. I know a couple of them spending V-day alone because their other half is too somewhere half-way around the world. For Valentines Day 2007, I spent it reading a book 'the between boyfriends book' graciously given to me by a dear guy friend in Vancouver. Cindy Chupack, author of the book has dedicated 159 pages to explain women, our deranged thoughts, how to cope with 'alone' time, the 'rebound' period and dealing with the new boyfriend. It is definately a good laugh.

I managed to catch up with a friend of mine in Poland and he has truly demostrated to me.... that everyone has a certain Je Ne Sais Quoi.

For my single friends, this may or may not be the last time you spend V-day alone. But know that everyone has a certain special thing about them and one day, someone will appreciate you.... Je ne sais pas.... maybe fate is saving the best for last.

On a lighter and funnier note, my dear cousin wasn't able to get a ticket to Japan so maybe she made up for her fustrations by queueing 4 HOURS for 2 boxes of doughnuts ! ha ha.....Thank you for the effort we will do our best to finish it.

H in H

Happy in Hong Kong.

Shop, shop, shop, shop, food, shop, shop, shop, food, shop shop shop, SLEEP.
( and the cycle continues...... )

Guess what ? there is ROOTS in Hong Kong but the shop is small, the collection is not good and the service sucks... so.. i rather shop in ROOTS back in Robson, Vancouver or Mayfair in Victoria.

More when I get back...

A few things in order

So ... I am way over my head with work and last minute stuff that keeps popping up. February is such a busy month I dont think i have enough time to breathe !

Somethings to look out for :

  • Three new colleagues at work. Saying goodbye to Wendy is not easy becuase I have learnt so much from her and Meihui sits 'next' to me.
  • Taking off to Hong Kong on Thursday ( I have not been there since 1996 ! )
  • Cleaning up my room for Chinese New Year
  • Chairing AIESEC Singapore's Prepration Seminar in March
  • Taking a more active role in IJ Alumni Matters.
  • Taking 'Ang Baos' from the older generations
  • Stevie is visiting in May
  • Jenny is going to visit her brother in June / July. Maybe she will drop by.
  • Sai might come back to Asia in May / June / July, you think ?

Work is keeping me very happy and busy. And friends are around to take my mind off work with a few good dinners and board games. Cool Cool.. Will update when i return from Hong Kong.

Ta Ta !
