the weekend and its people

They came from all walks of life, ( countries too )
They came in half skeptical, half hopeless and without much directions for life.
They came with not knowing what to expect.
They came with not knowing who they will meet.

They walked out inspired and changed, their mindsets shifted and they are different now.

I was one of them.

over the last few days, I have consumed myself, attending a course that challenged me to 7am mornings and 3am bedtime.

While I walked away feeling emtionally, mentally charged up, a mind bustling with new knowledge and inspired. I met a few very special individuals that changed my outlook in life.

Someone made me laugh so hard and so much. I got a stitch and realised I've not laughed this much and this intensely over the past couple of months. He reminded me of myself in university and how much I've lost the passion, lost my courage and subtle inspiration was more than I could ask for. In tune with time... I will run the run I promised.

Another made me cry and realise how much I really needed to change. He even allowed me to cry on his shoulders ! Been a long time since I cried.

Another had me think of the days I was ambitious, care-free and how much I need my 'old-air' back. she challenged me on my values and she made me realised my accomplishments.

To the 3 of you guys, ( you know who you are )

THANK YOU !

the crazy ones, misfits and rebels

nerds[1] nerds[2] Rebels.DVD[1]

Here's to the crazy ones.
The misfits, The rebels. The Trouble-makers.
The round heads in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules,
and they have no respect for the status-quo.

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is to ignore the,
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
--- Jack Kerouac

These are crazy ones, the LCPs of AIESEC Canada for the next year.
( Thanks John for the picture )

Stress and Work

Stress-ZebraStripes[1]

Today.... work made me cry... i think i stressed myself out too much. I am much better now.. Thanks to someone who messaged me, someone who made attempts to call me, a friend that reassureed me that I am stressing myself out and another who kept me company in the office till midnight..

Its great to have friends who will be there for you when you need them to be. Smille..

Stress-BreakSomething[1]

I saw this on the internet and I thought its hilarious because I am taking my day off soon !
--------------------------------

So you want the day off :-
Lets take a look at what you are asking for :-

There are 365 days in the year available for work.
There are 52 weeks in the year, in which you already have two days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work.
Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available.
You spend 50 minutes each day in coffee breaks which accounts for 25 days per year, leaving only 68 days available.
With 1 hour lunch period each day, you have used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work.
You normally spend two days per year on sick leave.
This leaves only 20 days available for work.
We are off for 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days.
We generously give you 14 days vacation per year, which leaves only 1 day available for work, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let you take that day off..

Celine : So Am I going to get my 1.5 days off next month ?

Then I came to the conclusion that I have already put my best foot forward at work and in whatever I do... I guess I must not see this as a failure but a learning experience ( why does that sound so familiar ). I guess if anything, I got an extra drive and push in working towards my corporate goals !

Crazy Cartoons

I am faithfully following the news of the cartoons and for now.. I am keeping my piece to myself. Its somewhat unbelievable yet I know the truth is that people need to 'trash it out' to finally come to a conclusion and a settlement of some sort !

I believe violence is not the answer.

I have some friends who has MSN nicknames that worth thinking about
'' cartoons to start WWIII ? ''
'' the power of visual arts comes to live ''
'' do we really need to tuff over cartoons ?''
'' what's with cartoons ? Relax man ! ''

I dunno... you tell me !

its 2am...

And I have worked hard all day.. I am happy with the amount of work I have put in and I hope the next few days of meetings will turn out good and my hard work the past few days will pay off.

I need to spend $30 odd dollars to buy a small FM/AM radio to carry around with me.. I am going crazy with the repeat function on my ipod. there are 4391 songs in my ipod and I know which song is playing after the last one ! I need a break from my ipod.. at least for a week...

Class 95 FM is doing me a lot of good and I am very very glad to have a boombox at work where I can listen to !

I am going home....

Makes your heart glow a little doesn't it ?

Three crazy friends made my heart sing a little today. A letter from a friend from far far away arrived... A surprise email from a long lost friend chimed in my inbox and a small but delightful SMS came along at night while I was still in the office !

Its 2.31am..... ahhh... home at last and ready for a good night's sleep.

the concept of time

I spend so much of my time in what I call the 'Screen Savers' mode. Where the computer is just waiting for me to get back to using it. But instead the computer waiting for me, its the other way around, it is me waiting for people !

Waiting for people can be very frustrating yet because we respect our friends and their reasons.. its crazy !

There are two groups of people - those with a good sense of timing and plan ahead. And those who tend to run late for just about everything and have to rush at the last minutes to get things done.

The second group have a disease and I call it Acquired Timeless Idiot Syndrome'. People with ATIS are chronically late, they are questionable and have misconceptions of time ! They need to learn schedulling and time management ! Maybe they think nothing about being late !

I can get soooooo angry waiting for someone, I start to laugh about it myself. I guess at the end of the day, they are still my friends. and this screen saver mode has gone on for a few years.. why should i get angry now ?

Maybe I will start billing them for the hours they make me wait eh ?

Should I be scared of that little machine and voting ?

simpsons_scared[1]

My family members and friends will tell you that there are not many things that I am terribly afraid of I am quite a dare-devil when it comes to exciting thrilling stuff... but today... i got scared for a minute.

I was in the office washroom, minding my own business and washing my hand, suddenly, I heard the hand dryer 'coughing' up funny noises and its sounds like it will explode.... hmm... I felt trapped in the little washroom and with double locks on the door... escape doesn't seem like a very feasible version / it doesn't seem like i might be able get out fast enough . ( Plus the fact that the dryer is just next to the door ! ) hmm....

OK... enough drama.... I got out fine but I am sure the dryer is still 'coughing'. Was I afraid to die ? Did I really think that little dryer was going to explode on me ? Ha Ha Ha...

-------------------------------------

I feel old ... ...

everyone around me seems to be younger. I looked at Singapore's Register of Electors and I found myself registered and ready to vote... hmm... i think voting really marks and voting has always equals responsibilities...

I always thought that voting is a privillege and that everyone should go to the polls. Whether he/she puts a cross or a tick and where he/she puts it is not important, it is more important if he/he does turn out, he/she will have a voice and the choice of candidate is secondary.... Am I wrong ?

East Meets Wst

Very early this morning, someone sent me my horoscope and supposedly personality based on my year and month of birth. So... being an 1982 April Child.

I am born in the year of the dog in the chinese calendar and Aries in the 'western' calendar... that make me an :

ARIES DOG

These Dogs are self-confident and independent. They won’t settle down too early because there’s too much to do.

For now.. this is 100% true... ha ha ha..
And i thought I never will believe this kinda of fluff. Ha Ha Ha.

books, books and more books !

the first few days of chinese new year is now over and i have to say that its strange to be home after years of spending chinese new year alone !

CHINESE NEW YEAR :

is the time to go visiting BUT I stayed at home most of the time ! my relatives came to visit instead

is the time to eat good food BUT my family opted for a healthier dinner of veggies! its not too bad though, i still ate lots

is the time to 'gamble' a little and win money BUT I lost at too many rounds of mahjong ! I lost $20, that's good for beginner's standard i think !

is the time to relax and treat yourself right.. and I DID ! caught up on sleep and went shopping !After 3 hours and $200 poorer, i have 9 new books to read ! yeah !

Classes start this saturday.. i am excited to 'go back' to school.

AIESEC Victoria is hosting Coastal Conference, how i miss my LC.
I wonder what everyone is up to ? Jenny ? Sai ? PT ? hmmmm...
Lots of emails to write, phones calls to make, goals to achieve and tidying to do at work.... Vacation is over, back to work.....
