The first among many days where I get to sit down and day-dream ( my family members will tell you it was my fav. past time when I was younger )

Also the day that I feel homesick...

I miss my ' ka-kees ' ( singlish = group of friends whom you always sit down and play a game with, on a regular basis, i.e same time, same place, same rules etc.)
For many people, they have Mah-jong ( game of tiles invented by the chinese ) ka-kees, some even have shopping ka-kees. For me, its board games.

My Ka-Kees, Glenn, Justin, Mun Leong ( a.k.a. Mouse ), PJ, Julian and Jatin. We like to meet for a night of crazy Monopoly / Risk . On some occasions, we are crazy enough to play the Game of Life, or Caterpillar ! Monopoly / Risk session will go late into the night, sometimes 3 am, followed by late night supper. Late Night super at Geylang / Changi / Sin Hoi / Simpang Bedok.

All of us lives in the east with the exception of Julian and Justin ( ahem... Julian... time to move.. rolls my eyes... Justin, move back to the East... ), we love the east side, we vowed to buy houses in the East, just because its cool ! Ha Ha Ha Ha. We live within 10 minutes of each other ! What's cooler than to have your best buddies live close to you !

So.. today, my blog goes out to my best buddies, 'ka-kees'

Drumroll....

Glenn, the sweet and thoughtful one. One that I always go to when I have to chose between a Right and a Right Decision.

Jatin , my drinking buddy, Siglap.. SOON ! Jatin and I are the only two that left Singapore for University.

Justin, 8 years of guarding each other's secrets, years of coffee at Siglap, birthdays and what have you. ( even fixing my dad's VCR a few years back ! )

Julian, ACI, er... ok.. the brainy one. One can always count on Julian to come up with information about the latest and newest gadget, or money -making scheme.

Mouse, my monopoly partner, one that is going to take over the world with me ! Mouse inspires me to have ambitions.

PJ, Thank God for this girl, when we start talking and b_tching together, just stay away until we are done. She reminds me that sometimes, girls are girs, we need the attention and we deserve it ! Go Girl !

oh yeah ! Char ! the youngest, most innocent and sweetest, girlfriend of Justin. Keep Smiling !

Meeting up late at night, only to go home at a even later time, heading home at 4am, much to the displeasure of my dad ( he got use to it after 2 weeks. ) Munching and just having fun with

This tradition has been going on for years, each summer, I look forward to going back to Singapore and chillin' with these guys. Its can be lonely here in Victoria without these guys.

So.. I downloaded Risk on my computer and played it. I even won ! Look at the picture ! I am green and yes I conquered the world. But...It doesnt compare to being home with the gang, not even close...

Miss you guys.... Hopefully I get to go back soon !

AIESEC Victoria General Assembly Feb

So... its has been a long long time since I went to a GA. Last night was my first AIESEC Victoria GA, ( in my time, we call them meetings ! ). I walked in to many familiar and unfamiliar faces. Its good to be back in my home LC. ( sob sob, tears of joy... )

Ok.. enough drama.... At GA last night, we had Jenny, our beloved Trainee, do a presentation on Germany. Did you know that an average German drink 117 litres of beer a year ! That is a lot ! that is one can a day ( at least ), take away the children, seniors and women that dont drink too much. That can work out to at least 3 cans a day ! They have so many different kinds of beers anyway.. so its a new one each day, maybe ? We also had an insight into some of the social problems that Germany is facing ! Jenny showed pictures of the different german cars. vroom vroom... yeah Audi !

P2233741
What comes to your mind when thinking about Germany ?

We welcomed in the next executive team and said goodbye to the last.. this is the 2nd team after my term. Boy ! do I feel old.

P2233745
The next team, Denoja, Emil, Ally, Tanveer and Dave ( missing because of school and work, Jessica and Nadia )

Needless to say, following AIESEC tradition, we had initiation. Blindfolded, whipped cream on their nose and time to lick someone else's nose ! ( There is this strange funny licking trend in AIESEC Victoria, don't ask me why ! )

P2233748P2233759P2233761P2233757

After the whole mess is over, they got their EXEC Shirt ! Its says : KISS ME .... I'm ( insert position here )
P2233771

After GA, AIESEC Victoria headed to Christys Pub for Beer, Dinner and Dart Action !

P2233781P2233775

The fun didnt stop there, we actually were crazy enough to have a drinking competition between Sang and Chris, we even bet on it ! It was 50 cents ! Quoting Dave, " this is my best spent 50 cents ! " It was good and close fight. We caught the attention of everyone in the pub. We were cheering Sang and Chris on ! A whole Jug of beer is not an easy task ! But they did well and took breaks.

P2233796P2233806
Jen M. : Chris, you are so close to finishing it !
Chris : I am close to a lot of things !
Note Matt's empty Jug ? Yeah, that is for emergency !

P2233811

And no.. the fun didn't end there, Chris and Andrew came over to my place and we had even more to drink ! Crazy Fun, Jokes, Gossips and Games ! We had so much fun, looking back, these are the memories that will last me a long long time.

P2243833
I wonder if Chris made it to his early morning meeting !

As for me, I cleaned up and went to bed tipsy...

Time Check : 3pm ! I have Dinner tonight ! Got to Run !

Its Sad.....

when your bedtime stories are essential AIESEC readings...

Dave ( AIESEC VIctoria's brightest and shinest STAR, LCP 2005-2006 ) and I were talking briefly over MSN how we are reading AIESEC stuff for bedtime. Its the first thing we wake up to find next to our beds and the last thing that we see before we go to bed ! What is time ! voluntary torture on oneself ? like we dont already do enough AIESEC work ? Ha Ha Ha.

Putting our priorities right, we stay up till midnight to finish school work and midnight and beyond to do AIESEC work ! Sigh ! the love we have for AIESEC is really commendable !

Talking about school work ! I am taking a new course ! Its Corporate Social Responsiblity with the World Bank ! Cool Eh ! When I was filling in a application form online. I was so excited ! CSR is something that really hits close to home for me. As a geography student, I am always interested in Sustainable Development, Resource Management, my secret ambition ( besides taking over the world ) is to bring clean water to everyone ! To make clean water readily avalible ! So.... excited as I may be.. i didnt realise that one more course simply equals LESS time for sleep. But i am totally excited and ready for the course ! ( that is if i get in ) so... keep your fingers crossed for me !

Its 1.12am and I am still up ! I need to go to bed.

Tonight's reading : PBoXes for AIESEC Victoria.....

I need to do this..

relax

Sit on my ass and do nothing !

Sorry guys, I have been so busy, I hardly have time to do anything, I try to blog now and then, a few words here and there. The truth is, I haven't really sat down to enjoy a cup of tea or watch a DVD without thinking about " What do I have to do next ?" " When is the date due for my Geography Assignment ?" or I often find myself walking into meetings wondering " Did I miss out anything ? And email ?"

I will check in from time to time. And promise more interesting blogs !

Take Care !

Anyone heard of Haiku ?

So.. i woke up today with a long list of things to do. Some I did, some I did not. Chris introduced me to Haiku today. Google it !

In the words of Chris :Haiku is Japanese poetry, 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the next and, 5 syllables the last line !

One of the few things I have to do today was writing my profile for this blog. So I thought I ask Chris, since he is online all the time ! and he innovatively helped me with my profile by writing Haiku !

199 mins after midnight

Today's blog is proudly presented by Jenny

2 girls, in AIESEC leadership shirts...do I feel weird or what...Celine made me wear the shirt :) Oh, by the way..this is not Celine...its KIMCHI, typing while Celine is reading a sophisticated magazine *hehe* I am not so sure if she is happy that I suggested to write her blog :P Well, I am giving her the opportunity to edit it, before posting...so you are only getting the censored version. Sorry! *thinking of what will expect me if I just push that PUBLISH BUTTON - evil grin*

Well, so lets see..what did we do today...hmm...

Celine worked on her assignment this morning, so she could get it done before running away to Montreal. Then she came to downtown to meet Pearl, very nice AIESEC girl from Seattle (well, nice for an American...lol..dont get me wrong...we have been buggin her all night about THAT fact). We had nice lunch at CAFE MEXICO, but let me tell ya: Prawns dont go with Mexican food, especially not with PEPPER MAYO...eeek. NO GOOD. We were with Ric, Derek, Sang, Mavis, Emil, Tanveer. After lunch we lost the first people (incl. Celine, I believe she went to Chinatown, then home and prepared for us invading her place in the evening).

Why they left? Maybe they were scared by us doing THE TOURIST THING: Market Square, walking down Government (I almost lost my camera at Immigration...dont even ask lol), the Empress, the Harbour, the Parlament (out- and inside). Dave called us and we met up with Matt, Deno and him at Beacon Hill Park. (I believe Celine was finishing her assignment, cleaning, preparing her Chili con Carne & working on a photo collage including all the pictures from the 1000 guys she has a crush on :P). At around 6:30 PM we hit Celine's place (bringing Perrogies, a whole chicken, frozen Christmas cookies, bread from the Salt Spring Road trip, and other weird stuff lol). We had a great dinner: Chili, Chicken Nuggets w/ Sweet Chili sauce, Perrogies w/ Sour Cream, Garlic Bread, Nachos, Cheese Puffs, Donuts, a whole chicken and AWESOME rasberry mousse cake with white chocolate on top (THANX MICHAEL !!! :).

Ok, this blog is getting too long. Summary rest of evening: Everyone feeling bloated, playing SUPER MARIO on the Nintendo (me realizing that I suck at it lol), singing Karaoke (especially the ones who cant sing, like myself), Dave performing "Man, I feel like a woman" & Mavis presenting a really beautiful Chinese song!, more play station, people leaving...Celine, Pearl & Kimchi talking about the life of their future children (Celine has it all figure out!) = scaring Michael ;)

3:19 AM KIMCHI starting to write Celine's block - 3:42 DONE - my mission is over...sorry, its late/early cant keep things short....Celine will edit it now :)

----------------------------------------------

Celine: didnt edit anything ! ( and this is celine's time to blog )

Super Mario was fun, we played the game on a really really old TV with a HUGE ASS remote control and Mario, being a super RETRO game and how I still remembered the 'hidden' tricks and brinks that one have to hit to get extra lifes and money !
It just made me feel really really old...

Its 2 minutes to midnight, I am still sitting here at my computer feeling bad about 'disappearing' all last week. Its almost 3 am in Montreal ( that's where i am heading soon ) and who gets off work at 3am ? Crazy Kiwis.

My 'keep awake' side of my brain is fighting the 'need sleep' side. I am going to brush my teeth and head to bed. Coz tomorrow I have to be in school, at travel cuts, downtown, blockbuster ( coz the silly guy messed up on my DVDs ), Fairways supermarket and online !

Have a good reading break ( my UVic ) friends.

Roadtrip With Jenny

I am making the best of my reading break.

Jenny and I decided to rent a car and go photo-taking. Seriously crazy photo-taking.

We cruised up Highway 1. The trip started in Victoira, we went on to stop at Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Duncan, Chermainus, Ladysmith. Stopping at each little town, taking pictures and we chose the scenic route each time.

I am so in love with the little towns on the island. I have to admit that I am an island girl, born on one, raised on one, studied on one, I will always be an island girl. Small communities, friendly people and cute little houses, such big difference from city. I love the sea, fishing boats, lighthouses....

P2143320P2143411P2143427P2143601

We got back into Victoria at midnight, took a total of about 600 pictures...

Jenny and I will be hoping in a car and going off again !

Salt Spring Island Trip

13 - 14th Feb

Reading break is finally here, a long awaited and much needed break. With midterms and assignments out of our way. AIESEC Victoria was ready to party it up with Jenny ( a.k.a Kimchi ) in Salt Spring Island.

We went to Salt Spring Island with 15 people. Imagine that ! everyone was on time and even on a Sunday morning ! Impressive eh !

Shopping with a $200 budget to feed15 people was fun. Jenny and I spent an hour in Cosco. Pushing our cart through huge and tall shelves. Everything is in Plus sizes. A 10L bottle of soy sauce , 10 kg of sugar, Cereals in giant boxes…. A thought occurred to me : What will happen if the huge bag of coffee fell on me. ‘Death by coffee’ oooooo……. Scary…

A few of us at sunset

Overall, it was a really crazy trip, crazy but fun, we were extremely tired by Monday afternoon.

Details for the trip can be found at Jenny's blog..I have cut and paste from hers.

Taken from Jenny’s Blog :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOOD:
We had great lunch: Sandwiches. We had great dinner: Microwaved Lasagna (2 hours in the OVEN ?!?!?! Well, why not use the BBQ Grill? :) We had great snacks....yummy gummi worms soaked in water & energy drinks, sweets, chips, more lasagna, garlic bread,...We had a great breakfast (what to do with 200 extra rolls?!)...

SUMMARY: Basically we ate all weekend :P

SIGHTSEEING:
We went to Ganges, Ruckle Park (where I managed to get myself all WET & DIRTY)...plus mess with my knee...OUCH! Our attempt to get up the hill (Monday morning) wasnt very succesful, so we had to turn around (all the backing up with the icy road was actually kind of a teambuilding game). Celine & me spent about 20 mins to take pictures of fruits & vegetables :D

ENTERTAINMENT:
Ok, we played some fun games..made Deno crawl through 6 guys spreaded legs, made Sai drink Michael's saliva, interviewed our President & the first lady about their love story, learned who wants to get with who in the LC (surprisingly NOT EVERYONE wanted Sai :P, and Emil, I STILL dont buy it :P). Sang was so lucky to get a lapdance from SAI and Celine got licked by Emil so often, that she eventually got used to it ;) And Deno told me some things I would have rather not known :P lol just kidding you, sweetie!

THANK YOUs:
  • Michael, Dave & Jen (Wilson): Thanx for driving!

  • Celine: Thanx for shopping & helping with the food!

  • All tha little helpers: Thanx for helping preparing the food :)

  • Weather-God: Thanx for the awesome weather (even though it could have been a tiny bit warmer ;)

  • LESSONS LEARNED:
  • You can make Lasagna in a BBQ grill

  • Discussing Religion early in the morning drains your brain ;)

  • Jenny & Celine are ANO, and that's why Sai loves us

  • Jenny & Celine are both PHOTO-MANIC, that's why Sai hates us

  • Emil's name is fun...A MEAL, A MULE, EMAIL....

    I have a new roommate !

Today is the day that Ceasar left Victoria, he is going home to Mexico tomorrow. Its so sad to see him leave. Ceasar was so fun to hang out with. The late nights of 'I'm hungry, are you ?' or me teasing him " Are you watching porn ?'

Ceasar had been a great roommate ( by roommate i mean the same suite but different bedrooms ) I appreciate his attempts to keep the kitchen and bathroom clean. He never fought with me over the remote control and he is always smiling.. I am going to miss him. He was upset today because he is leaving Canada for good. He is not sure when he will be back or if he is ever coming back . I dread the day I would have to leave Victoria. I will be crying my eyes out. I am sure !!

I have a new roommate ! Her name is Moon and she will be in Victoria, attending Aveda Institute ! Hey man.. I will have someone to do my hair and my makeup for me. Moon is 18 ( so young ! ) and she seems like a really sweet girl. Will take a picture with her one day.

I scrubbed down the bathroom today ! Now its SQUEAKY clean ! Yeah for clean bathroom and kitchen !

LONG and BUSY week ahead !

    Friday Night PJ Party II

After a week of working hard, I decided to reward myself with some TV and going to Sai's PJ party.

Math Equation for the Night :

Sai's Crazy roommates + A few AIESECers + Denoja + Bottles of Alcohol = Barrels of Laughter and a Crazy Party.

Sai's roommates Pepbo and Jesus got me drinking the minute I stepped into the house. We played drinking games and the girls ended up drinking lots ! Denoja was our source of laughter ! You rock Girl ! Jenny had a few problems with hearing last night. She successfully changed our words into really DIRTY stuff. ( I was victim TWICE ! )

    Example :
Ally said " You almost dropped my bowl "
Jenny heard : 'You almost grab my balls'.
Poor me was the innocent one sitting next to Ally.

Denoja had a mission to fufil that night, she wanted to kiss GIRLS !

I have added some pictures of the party. Lots more can be found on my homepage under family and friends album ( look for the link on my sidebar )

    Marine Machines

I was totally glued to the TV program Marine Machines ! It was so good. Reid agrees with me totally !

    MARINE_MACHINES_001

The program talked about Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, innovative submarines, pressure suits, chambers that help divers recover after a long dive. Modern technology has enabled man to explore the world beneath us. Oil rigs, sewage systems, underwater channels and tunnels. One seemingly simple device, the demand regulator, turns air-breathing humans into creatures of the deep.

Simply cool and powerful. I watch the program in awe and maybe one day.... one day... I get to go into a submarine.

AIESEC Victoria Night's Out at Sopranos

For those of you not from Victoria, Sopranos is one of Victoria's Karaoke Bar.
( yup ! the kind where you have to take a few shots, a few beers, a few drinks and muster up enough courage to go sing on stage, in front of many strangers )
Luckily for us, it was a Thursday night and there were not many strangers in the crowd.

The party started at 7pm at Jenny's place, our favourite Trainee and by the time I finished all my assignments and got there at 9pm. AIESEC Victoria was sitting around Jenny's bed, warming their vocal cords with 'O Canada'. We tried our hands at singing a few other national anthems like Indonesia's, Korea's, Singapore's ( They couldnt get pass the first 2 words ), U.States.. and of course, a few other silly songs. But it was all for fun.

We walked from Jenny's place to Sopranos. It was a 10 minutes walk away.. long enough to have a decent conversation, short enough to not feel tired. My 10 minutes walk was spend talking to Emil and Patty, we talked about the difference words we use in Malay and Indonesian. We talked about the food we missed back home, and came to the conclusion that we ( I ) have to have nasi lemak one day..SOON !

Upon reaching Sopranos, they asked for ID and we have to sneak a certain someone in.. it was fun and we made it.
After a little dancing, more warming ups, drinks and pouring over the songs menu, we finally sang. We even did a little AIESEC number, with the dance and all !

    P2032785

Dr Dave came finally and we were glad to see him. I lost my cell-phone ( I seem to be on a losing-things streak nowadays ) but eventually found it at Jenny's buried under the pillow.

Thanks Dave for the rides home !
AND also a BIG THANK YOU TO MIKE for giving me a ride home
I DID THIS FOR YOU MIKE !

While walking out of the bar, some of us are still singing ! We are hooked on Karaoke !
( And I thought I left my addiction back home with the Mafia Gang, miss you guys ! )

    Attack by Onions !

Ok.. so a lot of you will know me as the girl who loves to cook with lots of garlic and onions. Needless to say, I have big bags of them at home. And after a few days of garlic vegetables, ( see my blog at nomad food ). I though it will be nice to make the switch to onions. So.. all afternoon.. i was thinking of strips of onions, carrots, stir-fry chicken breast with some teriyaki sauce. Plain rice and some egg ( fried with onion.. the way my mum does it ).

Sounds easy and simple. I never have a problem with cutting up onions. They never use to make me cry. I usually sing to myself ( yes i do that when i am cooking and when I am in the shower ) . I was a happy young lady, having fun in the kitchen !

    a big bag
" Mr BIG Bag of Onions"

So... I went to ' Mr Big Bag of Onions " took two out and start cutting them up. Soon, I started to tear, so much tears i could hardly see my fingers and the way the knive was going, chomp chomp chomp on the cutting board ! I had to stop ! Ok.. I animated that scene a little but ... it was bad..

It got so bad I had to wash my hand 3 times and even wash my face ! I must admit that I did get fustrated in the end. And what happened to the two onions ? They died on my cutting board ! *evil laughter muahahahahaha *

    chop em' up!
Two Onions died on my cutting board !

Later on. I cooked them and ATE them ! *muahaahahaha evil laugher again*

Mr Big Bag of Onion lost to crazy Chef Celine.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls.. this is a classic story of how the good will always triumph over the evil.
Moral of the tale is : never make girls cry, or more specific, never make Celine cry, she will chop you up and eat you !

    Ha Ha Ha

    Have a good day everyone.
    Celine

    find_a_nice_guy_to_marry.com

so.. its 12.44am and i am still up ! and i was just talking to a friend on MSN and we were causally talking about how to get residence in a certain country... so this really smart friend of mine came up with the idea of looking up webpages that might sound somewhat similar to

www.find_a_nice_canadian( or whatever country you want )_girl_to_marry.com

Honestly, I am afriad to do a google search for it. its sounds too demeaning for marriages. I have been brought in a convent and belief that you marry someone you love. Never met anyone who will marry for citizenship but i guess such stuff do happen eh ?

I need to go to bed and try to revert to a good schedule and keep to my exercise schedule ! what am I doing ? still up at 1am ?

Question to oneself : Would you marry for citizenship ? Hmm..... its seems inappropriate but if you are doing so just to persue a good career / dream.. is that acceptable ?

    Coastal Conference 2005

After a long absence at AIESEC Conferences, its good to attend another AIESEC conference. In many ways, Coastal Conference was a good start for me to learn about AIESEC all over again.

Its was good to see old friend, new excited faces who can't wait to learn more about AIESEC, its heart warming to see AIESEC Victoria will a big delegation, with energetic imcoming VPs to take on the challenges to lead the local. Its good to see Craig and Jonathan M, Hugo, Justin... long overdue hugs. catching up , gossips and laughter.

But some things dont change.. goofy-ness, strange ways and the loudness and craziness of AIESEC Victoria remains. So crazy that AIESEC Victoria held the first ever AIESEC auction. Up for grabs were the sexiest and most eligible members of AIESEC Victoria. Guess who fetched the highest price ? None other than Jonathan Morgan. the guy from the MC, the with the power !

Celine and Jon at the auction:

Celine : so jon, what is the best thing about you ?
    Jon : I have the power !
Celine : ooo... nice... and ?
    Jon : I am hot !

And so the story goes : a couple of girls from AIESEC SFU and our dearest Denoja from AIESEC Victoria had a little : " jerry springer episode" over Mr Jonathan Morgan. Bids went up to $160 I believe ! Did we hear : " use my LC budget ! " And we had a recap of " Nachos Springer" from National Congress.
