I found her !

23337881

Life works in strange and mysterious ways.. For a while now I am mentoring a few girls in school and some of them have taken to calling me their 'big sister'. Its really sweet and I think perhaps its an IJ thing. I don't know.

Over the last few years, I have been looking for this one particular girl, my big sister. She was the girl that 'took care' of me when I first entered Grade 1, she was in Grade 3. My school has a system set up where the older girls would take care of a younger girl for the first 2 weeks of school, during recess time especially. They will teach us to find our way in the canteen ( school cafeteria ). Being alone with hardly any friends and aimlessly wondering around with 319 other lost first graders. I was particularly grateful to my 'big sister' for showing me around school, telling me stories, where should I sit, when to stand in line for prayers and keeping me company for 2 weeks.

I remember always looking out for her to say a simple 'Hello' when I know the older girls were passing by our classroom. I remember going up to her and ask her what her plans were after Secondary School. Back then, we didnt have email addresses or cell phones. So we lost touch.

I found her today on Facebook and Friendster. Never occurred to me to search the school year book for her middle name. 10 years after I graduated from IJ ( 12 years for her ). I found her, found out that she is married. Congrats !

Kudos to you Serene, if not for you, I might not have loved my school as much as I do now. So its one less thing to do for the year 2008. I messaged you on Facebook. Hopefully she gets back to me.

I heart my 4N Girls

love4N
Graphic was Specially Designed for the Girls.

So... 16th Feb came and went. The Fashion show was BLAST ! and the girls kicked some serious butts ! I am so touched by the girls and their efforts, I have seen them grow so much over the last 4 months.

The food was delicious ( thanks F&B Girls! ) the models looked awesome ! the model's crew were sooo efficient and amazing, the dancers gave their best and wished for re-runs. Stage crew went off without a glitch, merchandising girls and front of house girls played their roles diligently, marketing and publicity has wonderful booklets. Esther and Celine were running the entire show. They are my fearless leaders !

Catholic News interviewed Sam and myself. I let Sam do most of the talking because I was busy with my food ! ( I was sooooooooo hungry ). And Daniel ( Catholic News Guy ) asked me what I took away from the project : Believe in the girls no matter how pissed you are.

I guess a belief so strong can only come from true love and passion for something. I don't know how to tell the girls how wonderful and amazing they are. I don't know how to tell them that despite the world telling them they are in the Normal Stream. They have surpassed all my expectations. They have grown, maybe just a little but they have grown and I am so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with them.

My sister and I sat down for a while looking through the booklet and all the pictures inside. Spoke a little about each girl... made me realize that I will be missing them a lot. Each girl is special and unique. They are such an inspiration for me. I think I need to go back to school, I think I need to cry...

The very same girls that make me cry are the very same girls that make me boiling mad with their discipline problems, crazy with new and outrageous ideas and laugh till I tear. It is now 2340HR and two of them are messaging me. Asking me which of the two do I love more.

The Answer ? Its simple. I love them ALL THE SAME. each for their different personalities and each for their crazy ways. So girls, believe in yourself and you can do great things, the only person who can give up on you is you. I love each and every single one of you.

I will always believe in you girls. I will always support your funky ways and I will want to support in all your dance nights, drama nights etc.. And I will always love you ( all the same ).

I love my school..

Simple in Virtue
Steadfast in Duty

I watched a short documentary on Channel 8 last night. It covered IJ's history, the story of Father Barre, the french sisters and even the Alumni.. How I miss IJ. After watching the documentary I have a renew sense of zest and more determined to finish the 1 million things I have on hand.

--------------------

Had dinner and LAN games with the boys last weekend. It was good to catch up with the original gang, where they talk boys style, mentioned school days and history. That night, the atmosphere was different. I guess maybe because all of us are working now ( with the exception of Julian )

Mouse brought up a good question : What do working adults do ? Which lead me to think about what I do after work ? Honestly.. even with the increase in disposable income I tend to stay home more. To catch up on SLEEP, to surf the net.
I work in the day and attend school at night... so... with whatever little extra time i have left.. I tend to spend it in my room.

So...what should I be going and where should i be going ?
